 Welcome to GWS' new ECOMPASS Program! This program is designed to facilitate Home Owners in their desire to become more energy efficient and ecologically sustainable.
There are all kinds of companies in the public arena claiming to do Energy Audits.
The problem with most of these companies is that no matter what kinds of problems exist in the home, they only offer one or two products to correct the problem: new windows, additional insulation, a new heat and air system, etc.
ECOMPASS is a program offered by GWS, a national building science company with a unique perspective of a house and how it operates as a system. We do not go into a house with a specific mind-set but to actually find out what problems exist in areas like air leakage, insulation, duct leakage, Efficiency of the Heating & Air equipment, and even the cost for operation of lighting. Then we make recommendations based on a prioritized list of 36 different energy upgrades customized for your home.
You may well need more insulation but if you don’t correct air leakage problems, the new insulation will not be as effective as if the two areas were combined.
So rely on ECOMPASS to get the best “bang for your buck” when it comes time to increase the energy efficiency of your home. We can recommend competent contractors and provide additional consultation to inspect the upgrades.
